The UK is the world leader in offshore wind with more projects installed, in planning and in construction than any other country in the world.  By 2020 at least 20,000 MW of offshore wind is expected to be installed and operating in UK waters. There are currently 228 offshore wind turbines in UK waters, with an installed capacity of 688 MW, with a further 1,407 in construction and approved, totaling 4,598 MW. It is estimated that each MW of offshore wind could power around 640 homes.

A+A: Safety, Security and Health at Work

Latchways will be displaying their range of vertical systems, as part of the main 'Preising' stand, at the world's largest specialist trade fair for all aspects of safety and security. In 2009 A+A will be the leading trade fair of its kind for all who carry responsibility in the area of individual occupational health and safety or security at work.The proportion of visitors who come from abroad has continually risen over the past few events. In 2005 there were 9,000 international visitors at the A+A, in 2007 there were 12,000 specialist visitors from abroad.

BWEA31: Building an industry

BWEA's 31st annual conference and exhibition will take place over 20-22 October 2009 at ACC Liverpool, a landmark regeneration project on the outstanding Mersey River Waterfront sited next to the famous grade one listed Albert Dock. It is also one of the most sustainable venues in Europe - designed to produce half the CO2 emissions it would without any environmentally-friendly measures. It even has its very own wind turbines.

Latchways exhibited a range of fall protection systems designed for use in the offshore wind environment.   

The offshore wind industry is flourishing. According to EWEA statistics, all of the 1,471 MW installed worldwide by the end of 2008 was in EU waters. EWEA's reference scenario predicts 3.5 GW of offshore wind in the EU by 2010, 35 GW in 2020 and 120 GW in 2030. These impressive figures suggest a very active phase for offshore wind in Europe. European Offshore Wind 2009 Conference and Exhibition brought together all the major players in the offshore wind industry.

Sponsored by the Air Mobility Command, is the Mobility Air Force's (MAF) readiness competition. This competition focuses on improving our worldwide air mobility forces' professional core abilities. RODEO 2009 will be held at McChord Air Force Base, Wash., July 19-24. More than 2,500 people from the Air Force and Air Force Reserve, as well as allied nations, are expected to participate.

HUSUM WindEnergy —Germany — 9th - 13th September 2008
Latchways will be present at he leading international wind energy trade fair in Germany. With 700 companies from 35 countries, it is expected that 20,000 visitors from 40 nations will be attending this year. The international character of the trade fair reflects the development of wind energy as one of the most important energy generation form for the future.

BWEA 30—London—21st – 23rd October 2008
Over 2,000 people will attend BWEA30, the UK's leading renewable energy event, sponsored by RES, to be held 21-23 October 2008 at ExCel London. This, BWEA's 30th anniversary conference and exhibition, will be held in the North Halls at ExCel, and numerous accompanying social and networking events will take place in London, to enable delegates to relax and meet on a more informal basis.
