Rooftop Systems

Telecommunications antenna can be located on almost any part of the roof of a building. MSA provides Latchways fall protection systems that can provide safe access to any location.

Horizontal Systems

MSA's Latchways systems, incorporating the patented Constant Force Post,  provide the ideal solution for all horizontal safety at height applications across roofs and other flat structures. The system’s versatility and ease of use makes it ideal for protecting workers as they go about day-to-day activities such as maintenance, cleaning, access and inspection.

  • Systems can be designed for up to five simultaneous users.
  • Fixes to virtually all types of structure and roofing system.
  • Follows the contours of the building by going around bends.
  • Can be extended to include inclined and vertical sections.

Freestanding Constant Force post Systems

MSA's Latchwyas Freestanding Constant Force post provides assured worker safety at height where there is an occasional or temporary requirement to access flat roofs or structures.

At the heart of the system is MSA's unique Constant Force technology. The Constant Force post is contained within an anchor device consisting of a galvanised steel frame and galvanised steel weights bolted in a circular formation onto rubber coated base weights. In the event of a fall, the Constant Force post deploys to limit the load on the system while the weights simultaneously create a friction anchor between the unit and the roof surface.

  • Applicable where there is an occasional safety at height requirement.
  • Suitable for flat roofs (maximum 5° pitch).
  • Can be used on a wide range of roof surfaces including concrete, single-ply membrane, bituminous membrane, sanded and stone chipping asphalt, and steel profile.
  • No need to puncture the roof membrane to fix the system.
  • Special rotating anchor turns through 90° for maximum user flexibility.
  • Each anchor device protects a single user.
  • Conforms to BS EN 795 class E.

Inclined Systems

MSA's Latchways systems incorporating the Constant Force Post can be specified to overcome the difficulties of ensuring safety at height for people working on inclined surfaces.

For applications where the incline is between 15° and 90° from the horizontal, attachment to engineered lifeline system is by means of the special ClimbLatch device. If a worker should fall while connected to the Latchways system, the ClimbLatch device will immediately lock onto the system cable and arrest the fall.

The ClimbLatch device is inherently versatile and will operate on both inclined and horizontal systems and so prevents the need for a worker to change attachment devices when moving from one section to another.

MSA's VersiRail system restricts access to fall hazards and provides an aesthetic collective protection solution for worker safety at height. It is quick and easy to install and can be used on virtually any flat roof surface up to a 4° pitch.

Aesthetics and installation flexibility are crucial factors in VersiRail's design. The system is available in three finishes: untreated, polished or powder coated to a RAL colour, and in four different flexible solutions; straight upright, curved upright, inclined upright and folding (freestanding only)t. The combination of finish and style options ensure that the VersiRail system will full intergrate into any building design. Similarly, the wide range of available components enables the system layout to be configured to ideally suit the collective protection need.

Constructed from aluminium, the system is lightweight and easy to transport. Installation is quick and easy with VersiRail available as a freestanding or fixed system.

  • VersiRail system is a non-penetrative barrier system for guarding users against falls from height.
  • Design and installation has been indepenently tested and conforms to EN 13374.
  • Applicable for use on flat roofs up to a maximum pitch of 4°.
  • Counterbalances can be positioned on the inside or outside of the VersiRail.
  • Easy to assemble on site - uses EZ-FIX components.
  • Can be configured to provide a guarded walkway across a roof as well a roof edge guard.
